Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. has announced plans to relocate the headquarters of Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A. from Cypress, California, to Kennesaw, Georgia.
The transition is expected to take place in phases from late 2026 through 2028. As part of the plan, Yamaha will sell its 25.1-acre Cypress campus, which has served as its U.S. home base for nearly five decades.
Here’s everything to know.
Why is Yamaha moving its headquarters to Georgia?
The company described the decision as part of broader structural reforms designed to centralize operations and make more efficient use of corporate assets.
Yamaha purchased the Cypress property in 1978 and opened its offices there in 1979. The Southern California campus has long housed corporate leadership and financial services operations.
However, much of Yamaha’s U.S. business has already shifted to Georgia over the years. The company’s Marine division moved to Kennesaw in 1999, followed by its Motorsports division in 2019. The relocation of remaining corporate functions will consolidate key operations in one state.
Yamaha said it plans to use a sale and leaseback arrangement during the transition. Under that structure, the company would sell the California property while temporarily leasing it back to maintain operations as teams gradually move east.
Where is Yamaha’s international headquarters?
Yamaha’s global headquarters is located in Japan.
