JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department announced that a 20-year-old Plainfield Suzuki motorcycle driver suffered serious injuries when he crashed into the car of a 59-year-old Plainfield man who was turning on to Theodore Street early Tuesday evening.
The 59-year-old man was also seriously hurt after his car crashed into a homeowner’s fence at the Riverbrook Estates subdivision, once the motorcycle hit his car. According to Joliet Police Spokesman Dwayne English, at 6:20 p.m., officers learned of the wreck at Theodore Street and Pebble Beach Drive.
English said the following events happened: The Suzuki motorcycle was westbound on Theodore approaching Pebble Beach Drive in the curb lane. The Suzuki changed lanes into the inside lane of westbound Theodore and collided into the driver side of a Honda Civic driven by the 59-year-old man turning onto Theodore Street from southbound Pebble Beach Drive.
The collision ejected the Suzuki motorcyclist, and the Honda veered off Theodore Street and struck a residential fence on the southeast side of the intersection. Both drivers were taken to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department with serious injuries. The injuries by both drivers are believed to be non-life threatening, English noted.
The roadway was closed for several hours while the crash was reconstructed. No citations have been issued as this crash remains under investigation. English said that anyone with video footage or information regarding this crash is encouraged to contact the Joliet Police Traffic Unit at (815)724-3193.
