Yamaha is recalling golf cars that might not stop when you need them to

Yamaha has recalled golf car vehicles that may not stop when the driver uses the brakes.
The recall is in addition to another one for vehicles that lack stop lights.
About 4,300 model year 2017-2024 DR2A and DR2E personal transportation vehicles have been recalled because they “can fail to brake, posing a risk of serious injury or death due to a crash hazard,” according to an announcement with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recalled vehicles have serial numbers that start with J0D, J0E and J2D. They were sold in a variety of colors. The serial number is located on the handlebars on the left side of the rear row of seats of the vehicle.
The vehicles were sold from June 2018 through July 2025 for between $9,500 and $13,000.
Owners should contact a Yamaha dealer to schedule a free installation of new brake shoes and pads. Yamaha said it will provide transportation for owners who cannot take the vehicle to a dealer or will provide installation of the brakes where the vehicle is located.
Yamaha also has recalled 19,300 model year 2021-2025 Drive 2 Personal Transportation gas/electric vehicles that lack stop lights. The company also has offered free repairs on those vehicles.
