A 44-year-old man died Saturday afternoon in a terrible road accident on the Stradone del Vivaro, the provincial road that crosses the territory of the municipalities of Rocca di Papa and Velletri.
The accident involved the Ducati motorcycle on which the victim, originally from Marino, was traveling, an ambulance carrying only medical workers and a prison police van in which four officers were traveling. The crash was very violent, and the motorcyclist, who died instantly, got the worst of it. The ambulance operators and prison police officers, who had just finished an escort in the Velletri prison, were miraculously unharmed.
The firefighters, the carabinieri of the local company and of the Ariccia station and various 118 vehicles, including the helicopter rescue, intervened on the spot. The body of the 44-year-old deceased was transferred to the Tor Vergata polyclinic, at the disposal of the judicial authority for the examination of the case. The dynamics of the crash are still being examined by the investigators: in the collision the motorcycle was thrown off the road and the front part of the ambulance, which ended up overturned on its side, was completely destroyed.
