Marius Hillebrand is, next to Mateusz Tudzież (both of them turned junior this year), one of the new additions to Motor Lublin, which strengthened the Lublin formation in PGE Ekstraliga U24. Although Hillebrand has been racing speedway since 2017 and last season in Trans MF Landshut Devils was not the best in the performance of the young German, the chance to ride in Motor Lublin is quite an achievement and a great opportunity to learn speedway from the best. However, he could expand his knowledge of speedway, thanks to the experience of his father, who raced in long track races.
“My father used to drive the long track, but my uncle was killed in the long track race in Herxheim in 1990, which made my dad quit racing. My whole family always wanted me not to ride speedway, until 2016, when I secretly bought a speedway bike and convinced my parents to let me ride. This is how I got into this sport in 2017 and it is a great success for me that I am here, in Motor Lublin. I decided to join this club because I felt that the atmosphere here is like a big family that has come a long way to be in the place it is now – says the young German.
In connection with driving in Poland, Marius Hillebrand wants to move permanently to Poland. – Where exactly? I do not know that yet. Bydgoszcz was such an idea. At the moment we are still looking for a mechanic and housing and have some options. In addition, I would like to learn Polish – he admits.
Last year he went to Italy for a training session lasting several days. He is currently skiing in Austria, but has he also been preparing for the upcoming season in southern Europe this year?
– A few days ago I came back from Spain where I was over a week training flat track and motocross. In winter, I ride a motorcycle a lot in the south – he ends.
Speedway: He secretly bought his first motorcycle. Will it shine in Motor Lublin?
