This weekend there are going to be LOTS of options for entertainment which includes the Blue Collar Festival, in addition to the music don’t forget to head out to the Rice County Fairgrounds for the Billy Hofmeister 2nd Annual Flat Track races that were scheduled in June and were rained out.
Faribault Harley Davidson is helping to bring the races here to Faribault, and the man behind the races has ties to the Faribault community. Billy Hofmeister is a legend of flat track racing with national championship numbers here in the US and a Canadian National Championship to his name.
According to Billy’s biography:
Bill’s first race (a hill climb) was at the age of twelve. He beat adult riders with years of experience and took a third-place win overall. He proceeded to tear up the track at county fairs, community festivals, and AMA national events across the country and continent. With many first-place trophies and a Canadian National Championship title, Bill’s pursuit of the win has been relentless. Bill still races to this day and has a habit of leaving youngsters in his dust. You can find him in the pits on one of his many race bikes, waiting for the next heat.
You can expect to see Billy and his son race as there will be several classes of racing that will take the better part of the evening to complete.
If you are interested in racing, registration takes place at the fairgrounds at 1pm, with warm-ups to begin at 2 and racing scheduled to begin at 3pm.
