Christian Motorcycle Association hosting annual rally in Sebewaing

The village of Sebewaing is welcoming a state motorcycle rally to its community Labor Day Weekend.
For the third consecutive year, the Christian Motorcycle Association is hosting its Michigan rally at Bay Shore Camp, Sept. 1-4.. The weekend event will be filled with bike shows and rides, biker games, live music, many other activities.
The CMA is an international ministry organization with over 125,000 members that go to different bike rallies across the country, spreading the word of Jesus, and raising over $78 million dollars in outreach campaigns. The group also has many other outreaches, including a youth movement, non-cruiser bike trips for sport bikes, and more.
State coordinator Bill Schaard has been involved with the program since 1975 and continues to enjoy being part of it year in and year out.
“We’ve been coming to Bay Shore Camp for the last 14 years, and Sebewaing campgrounds have the best facilities state-wide to meet our needs,” Schaard said. “We do a lot of outreaches and rallies around the state and each one is different. We pray, talk, and fellowship with people from all over.”
During the holiday weekend, Schaard and other CMA attendees will be at Bay Shore Campgrounds for evening services, family fun activities and events, and campfires. On Friday evening, there will be a service honoring veterans and those who have served our country.

The third annual community street party will be held on Saturday, featuring live music, bike blessings, a bake sale, games, and kids activities. At 10 a.m., there will be a bike show, where visitors and bikers can walk along and check out some vintage and new motorcycles. Right after the show, there will be a bike ride and parade, where bikers will travel from Sebewaing to Akron for the Freedom Festival.
“You don’t need a motorcycle to come and fellowship with us,” Schaard said. “Come to Bay Shore and enjoy some fun.”
