STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A motorcycle legacy on Staten Island is coming to an end.
Harley-Davidson of Staten Island, located in Mariners Harbor, announced on Facebook to a sea of disappointed followers that the iconic dealership is closing up shop on March 31.
“After ten great years it’s time to say goodbye,” the post said. “This decision does not come lightly, but had to be made. From the start of this venture it has been much more than just a Dealership to us, it has become a family. From our bike nights, to open houses, to community events … we have made many unforgettable memories here!”
The current owner, Scott Reback, purchased Lombardi’s Harley-Davidson in 2016, just a year after Lombardi’s celebrated 110 years in business.
“We are the oldest motorcycle dealer in New York State. … And we are one of the oldest motorcycle dealerships in the country,” Mike Lombardi told the Advance/SILive.com in 2015, when the business was celebrating the historic milestone in its Stapleton location on Bay Street.
Seeking a larger facility, Reback moved the dealership to its current Forest Avenue location in Mariners Harbor.
Harley-Davidson of Staten Island hosted various events over the years, including cooking contests and Bike Nights that included music and different food truck vendors.
For those who use the dealership to store their motorcycle, the deadline to pick up your bike is April 1. The same goes for those parts specially ordered to the garage.
A follow-up post emphasized that everything must go: From the popcorn machine, to signage, to the Harley-Davidson-branded steins, anything and everything is up for grabs at 1973 Forest Ave.
