A 25-year-old man was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle while zooming among more than a dozen other riders in a Staten Island residential neighborhood on Tuesday, police and sources said.
The rider was cruising in his motorcycle near the corner of Richmond Ave. and Signs Road in Bulls Head around 7:50 p.m. when he skidded out and crashed into a light pole in the center median of the avenue. The man was wearing a helmet but still suffered serious body and head trauma, sources said.
About 15 motorcyclists were racing at the time, they added, noting that the accident prompted all but one to scatter, they added.
Medics rushed the 25-year-old to Richmond University Medical Center, but he could not be saved.
The motorcyclist’s name was not immediately released as cops worked to notify his family of the death.
